Get Married in Las Vegas?- Top Ten Myths David Letterman Style

“Let’s just get married in Las Vegas!” We hear this a lot from couples who got frustrated or overwhelmed planning their wedding. After watching David Letterman’s Top Ten one night, I talked with our team at the Las Vegas Wedding Palace and we decided to put together our own Top Ten Myths About Getting Married in Las Vegas.

1. Vegas Weddings are only for movie stars and famous people.

Getting Married
in Las VegasWhile it is true that Vegas Weddings have been featured in many movies and certain (unnamed) celebrities have married in Vegas in the wee hours of the morning, only to get an annulment the next day, that doesn't mean Vegas Weddings on the Strip are only for the rich and famous.

Au Contraire my friend, Vegas weddings are for everyone. The Las Vegas Wedding Palace unites couples from around the world. Just to prove our point, check out this list: Las Vegas Wedding Palace Couples from Around the World and see where some of our Brides and Grooms come from. These are from actual Weddings at Las Vegas Wedding Palace. We didn’t make these up.

Notice how many of our Brides and Grooms are from Europe and all points around the globe. YOUR hometown could be the next on our list!

2. It's expensive.

Once again, simply not true. You can get married at a chapel on the Strip (the Las Vegas Wedding Palace) for less than $200 – less than $100 for Drive-thru weddings.) Of course, to make your wedding day extra special with more flowers and additional photos, the price of the wedding package increases. At the Las Vegas Wedding Palace, wedding packages range from $199 – $4,700 but can include strip photo tours in a limo, helicopter weddings, or outdoor locations like the Grand Canyon.

The beautiful part about a Las Vegas Wedding is that you can design your wedding package and have your wedding exactly the way YOU want it.
The Las Vegas Wedding Palace can marry you in one of 4 inside wedding chapels, a romantic outdoor Gazebo, a fairy-tale horse and carriage, or a whimsical Enchanted Garden. If you like outdoor weddings, we can perform your wedding, vow renewal, or commitment ceremony at several scenic Las Vegas locations like Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, even a gondola at the Lake. You can do any of these ceremonies and still spend less than $5,000 for a wedding of your dreams that you will remember forever.

3. It's complicated and you have to wait for blood tests.

Getting Married
in Las VegasNope. After you get your marriage license in Las Vegas (it takes about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of people in line at the County Clerks office) you can get married 5 minutes later. Getting married in Las Vegas is possibly the easiest place to get married on the planet. There is no required blood test and no waiting period. At the Las Vegas Wedding Palace, we can help you get started with the paperwork. Most of the time, we can get transportation for you to the County Clerk's Office. 4. The chapels are too cheesy.

Getting Married
in Las VegasThanks to some movies, Las Vegas has achieved a certain reputation for being "cheesy", and we're sure you can find some cheesy wedding chapels if you search for them. But at the Las Vegas Wedding Palace, the wedding chapels and customer service are what people rave about! You will feel like royalty here. That's why we named it the Las Vegas Wedding Palace.

Getting Married in Las VegasNow, we do like to have FUN here. After all, it's Vegas Baby! That's why we created our Vegas Nights Chapel and play wedding music for Drive-Thru Weddings. Elvis is popular and couples love the wedding and show, but we also have other entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Tim McGraw, the Rat Pack and our own Mariah Carey. People love our themed weddings where they can actually "be Elvis and Marilyn" or gangsters, space characters.
But we will offer some beautifully decorated wedding chapels for couples looking for a traditional style wedding ceremony.

5. It's just like the wedding on "2 ½ Men" and "The Hangover" and it's hard to take a Las Vegas Wedding seriously.

We're always amused at the couples who ask if we could show them the chapel where they filmed "The Hangover"

"The Hangover" chapel was a fictitious chapel, put together and filmed at 1236 S. Las Vegas Blvd, 2 blocks from our location at the Las Vegas Wedding Palace. After the movie, the "pretend" chapel was taken down. It was a fun movie, made for $35 million and grossing over $500 million so far, but keep in mind, it was a movie. It was a script, written, sold, re-written, embellished, re-told, and stuffed with cameo appearances including Mike Tyson and his Tiger, and it was created for entertainment.

To be fair, we don't know where they filmed the scene for 2½ Men. We suspect it was filmed on a studio lot. The next time we see Charlie Sheen we will ask him.

In short, these were filmed for entertainment. Las Vegas Weddings on the Strip may be may be entertaining, but at the Las Vegas Wedding Palace, they are the Real Thing.

6. The ceremonies are dry and lifeless.

Wedding Ceremonies, Elvis Weddings, Vow Renewals, and Commitment Ceremonies are like everything else in Vegas. They are bigger than life. Only, in this case, what happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas. A Las Vegas Wedding is recognized throughout the world, through the use of an Apostille, again, a very simple procedure. The ceremonies at Las Vegas Wedding Palace are colorful, heartfelt, emotional and real. Our pastors are hand-picked for their excellence and dedication.

7. They only have piped in music.

9. Some of the Elvis impersonators don't sound or look so good on YouTube. I'm afraid I'll end up with a bad one.

Getting Married in Las VegasIt is true that there are MANY Elvis tribute artists in Las Vegas. It is also true that some of them are just not ready for prime time yet. That's why we have carefully hand-picked the artists that we use at Las Vegas Wedding Palace. Our owners are seasoned musicians themselves and know exactly what to look for in a performing artist. We know you will be happy with any Elvis Wedding in our chapel.

10. Las Vegas is a party town. My cousin says people drink too much and then get married.

Getting Married in Las VegasThis is definitely a "no-no".

First, you will not be issued a license at the Marriage License Bureau if there is any hint that you are under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

Second, any minister will refuse to marry you if there is any hint that you are under the influence as well.

The only thing you can be under the influence of is……

LOVE!!

We wish you a beautiful ceremony.
